The 3rd day of the class was also the first day of the business week. People definitely arrive slower to class on the third day. Walking through the conference halls, you could see numerous people putting out fires from their laptops and cell phones in the morning. I always thought Vegas was a three-day city but sitting through class removes you from that environment. Walking over to the conference and the interesting assortment of people seems to be the only exposure I'm getting early in the morning, so I bare with it.
Once class was over, I realized that the Blackhat store was open at the end of the hall. I didn't know it at first, as most of the exhibits and booths were being set up, and I thought it was another display. The store has everything you would expect in a conference store. Everything from t-shirts to hoodies to polos to even baby clothes says blackhat. The prices aren't outrageous. I bought a "gym jacket" for 50 dollars. It was good quality and light, perfect for someone that lives in Florida. Everything sticks with the hacker's color of choice, black, except for a denim button-up long sleeve shirt with a Back hat written on it. I would recommend stopping in.
The 3rd day is when most vendors seem to arrive as many more people are working on booths. Tomorrow is when the first parties I'm aware of are being held, so tonight will probably be the last chance of good sleep before a long day tomorrow. I settled for a cheap meal of Pizza over in "New York, New York." This casino seems to have the best food option in the area, which is moderately priced and has a good choice of options.
Tomorrow is the final day of the class, involving many subjects I'm unfamiliar with. If you're feeling lost at any point in the course, the night of the 3rd day may be a good time to compile your questions or catch up and go over the material so you can ask on the last day.
If I didn't mention earlier, I purchased a VPN subscription from NordVPN. As you need a pretty good computer for the classes, I through my personal computer, but I don't trust the wifi enough in Vegas to go without it. If you don't usually use a VPN, I recommend at least buying it for the month you are going, as every hacker likes to sniff all the networks in Vegas during Blackhat/Defcon. I'm not sponsored just recommend NordVPN as I use it myself.
